SIM & eSIM Plans with a Japanese Number

Data-only travel eSIMs do not include a phone number, so they cannot receive verification SMS. These plans state on their official pages that they include a Japanese number with SMS.

No guarantee. A Japanese number on your own contract is a legitimate way to meet a phone-number requirement, but ticket services decide what they accept and can change rules per event. Check the ticket service's conditions (see the comparison) and the official overseas routes first.

What to check on the provider's page

  • The plan includes a Japanese phone number (not data-only).
  • Incoming SMS is supported, and whether it works while you are still outside Japan (roaming).
  • For e+, verification is an outbound call from your phone, so outgoing calls to Japanese numbers matter too — check the plan's calling conditions.
  • Identity check and delivery: how and where the SIM / eSIM is issued, and how long that takes.
